Since February of 2021, the Izmirlian Foundation, in cooperation with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, has provided continuous food security support initiatives aimed at mitigating the social consequences of COVID-19 and the Artsakh War.

The project targets about 3,100 vulnerable families most affected by COVID-19 in the border regions of Armenia and Artsakh, as well as vulnerable families that were displaced from Artsakh and live in said regions and Artsakh.

Mrs. Ira opens the door, and we find ourselves in a small room that barely fits two beds, two wardrobes and a small table. Despite the limited space, Mrs. Ira has created a memorial corner for her son.

Mrs. Ira was emotional, trying to stifle her sobs and tears. She was born in Tumi village of Hadrut region. Her husband, Sergey, fought in the First Artsakh War and passed away in 2013. They had four daughters. The fifth and the only son in the family was Andranik.

Andranik Petrosyan, born on September 21, 1993, on the Independence Day of Armenia, was ironically killed on November 10, 2020, mere hours after the signing of the trilateral statement…

The Izmirlian Foundation has been implementing numerous charitable and development projects in the education, healthcare, social and technology innovation sectors in Armenia and Artsakh since 1990 with the aim of supporting the socio-economic development of Armenia and Artsakh. In 2020-2021, however, to address the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Artsakh War, the Izmirlian Foundation pursued various emergency humanitarian projects, contributing to the food security of vulnerable families, given the dire situation of socially vulnerable families in Armenia and Artsakh.
